FROM THE BOARD TO THE FITTED PIECE

Four stages, all under one roof.

Nothing bought in flat-packed. Timber chosen by hand, joints cut on our own bench, the finish on in-house, the same team fitting on site. The slower way, and why our windows still shut properly in twenty years.

“Really pleased with our bespoke windows and door on the barn conversion. Installed in less than two days, and a friendly team who listened to what we wanted in the design stage.” A barn-conversion customer, near Crickhowell

HERITAGE & LISTED-BUILDING WORK

Replicas that keep the original detail.

Much of our work is on the period and listed buildings of the borders, the red-sandstone cottages and barns around Crickhowell and Llangattock. We make exact replicas of existing windows, doors and stairs, so a replacement keeps the line the original maker drew.

  • Box sash, done properly. Real cords, lead weights and pulleys, not spring balances, so it moves like the original.
  • Slimlite glazing. Slim-profile sealed units that bring a heritage sash to a 1.6 U-value without thickening the sightline.
  • Accoya for painted exteriors. Acetylated timber, dimensionally stable and rated around fifty years above ground.

QUESTIONS WE GET MOST

Five quick answers, then ring the workshop.

Do you fit as well as make?

Both. Supply-only for your own fitter, or supply and fit. Most jobs we do both, and a recent barn-conversion set of windows and a door went in inside two days.

Can you match the joinery in a listed or period building?

Yes, it is core work for us. We make exact replicas of existing windows, doors and stairs, box sash with cords, weights and pulleys included, so a replacement keeps the original detail.

Can I get double glazing in a heritage sash without losing the look?

Yes. Slimlite slim-profile sealed units double glaze a traditional sash while keeping the period sightline, at a minimum 1.6 U-value, with Low-E or soft-coat glass and Argon or Krypton fill.

What timber do you use, and is it sustainable?

Only the best timbers from sustainable sources. For painted exterior work we use Accoya, a modified timber that stays dimensionally stable and is rated around fifty years above ground, so the shape and the finish both last.

Do you make gates, furniture and kitchens too, or only windows and doors?

All of it. Windows, doors and frames, staircases, kitchens, bespoke gates and freestanding furniture, plus glazing and ironmongery, all from the one workshop at Timber Craft Park.
